RED SAG provides dedicated Shopify developers from our team in Tamil Nadu, India, to merchants, e-commerce managers and digital agencies in the USA, UK, Australia, Canada and India. They work on your theme code, build custom apps and extensions, and handle the steady stream of store changes that a growing brand generates.
Shopify work is broader than it looks. One week it is a new product page section in Liquid, the next a discount rule written as a Shopify Function, a checkout UI extension, or a sync with your ERP or warehouse. We assign developers who understand the platform's limits, especially what can and cannot be changed in checkout, so you do not pay for work that Shopify will not allow.
Agencies can use our Shopify developers white-label under NDA, working in your Partner account and project tools. Merchants can hire full time, part time or by the hour, or get a fixed quote for a defined build such as a theme customisation. Every engagement can begin with a one-week paid pilot.
Themes built or customised in Liquid on top of Dawn or a premium theme, with sections and blocks that merchandisers can rearrange in the theme editor without calling a developer.
Embedded admin apps built with Shopify's Remix app template, Polaris and App Bridge, using the GraphQL Admin API and webhooks, with session storage and billing set up correctly.
Checkout UI extensions, Shopify Functions for discounts, payment and delivery customisation, and post-purchase offers, replacing older checkout.liquid and Script Editor customisations.
Custom storefronts on Hydrogen and Oxygen, or Next.js with the Storefront API, for brands whose content, performance or design needs go beyond what a theme can do.
Connections to ERPs, inventory and warehouse systems, marketplaces and CRMs using bulk operations, webhooks and metafields, with rate limits and retries handled instead of ignored.
Moves from WooCommerce, Magento or BigCommerce with products, customers and redirects mapped, plus theme performance clean-ups that remove unused app scripts and heavy Liquid loops.

Pick the level that matches the work. Many teams pair one senior developer with a junior or mid-level developer to keep costs down without losing review quality.
1–3 years
Handles theme edits and store tasks with clear specs, reviewed by a senior developer.
3–6 years
Delivers theme features and small apps independently and understands app and API limits.
6+ years
Plans complex builds such as headless storefronts, Plus checkout work and large migrations.
Changing code in the published theme means a typo can break the store during a sale. Our developers work on a duplicate or Git-connected theme, share a preview link and publish only after you approve.
Stacking apps for small features adds monthly fees and scripts that slow every page. We check whether a section, metafield or Function can do the job before recommending another subscription.
Shopify has been retiring checkout.liquid and Script Editor in favour of Checkout Extensibility and Functions. New checkout work is built on the supported extension points so it does not need rebuilding later.
Syncs that fire one REST call per product hit Shopify's limits and fail quietly on large catalogues. We use GraphQL bulk operations, respect cost-based throttling and log every failed sync.
Four ways to work with our Shopify developers, and when each one makes sense for Shopify work.
One developer works only on your product, around 160 hours a month, inside your tools and sprint rhythm.
Best for brands and agencies with a constant flow of Shopify work: campaigns, new sections, app changes and integrations every week.
Fixed monthly fee, invoiced monthly
The same developer every week for about 80 hours a month, usually half days or agreed days.
Suits a merchant with a stable store that needs regular tweaks, seasonal landing pages, app updates and quick fixes.
Fixed monthly fee for the agreed hours
Pay only for tracked hours against tickets you raise. Hours and task notes are shared with every invoice.
Good for a speed audit, fixing a broken app integration, a small checkout change or an agency's overflow tasks.
Tracked hours, invoiced monthly
A written scope, a fixed quote and milestones. We carry the estimate risk; changes are quoted before they are built.
Works for a theme build from approved designs, a store migration, or a custom app with an agreed feature list.
Milestone payments against an agreed scope

Indicative rates, before any applicable taxes. The exact figure depends on the developer we assign, the skills your project needs and the length of the engagement, and is agreed in writing before work starts. Fixed-price projects are quoted per scope.
A senior engineer on our side interviews every developer on the stack you are hiring for, covering the topics listed on this page, before they are put forward to any client.
We read code the developer has written, from our own projects or their earlier work, looking at structure, naming, tests and how they handle errors, not just whether it runs.
A short task in the same stack, done in a real repository and reviewed like a pull request. It shows how someone works, asks questions and writes up what they did.
We put forward the developer whose experience fits your product and time zone, share a short profile, and you interview them yourself before anything is signed.
Build an Online Store 2.0 section for a product page that reads a metaobject (for example a size guide), is fully editable in the theme editor and passes Theme Check, plus a short script that updates metafields for a list of products through the GraphQL Admin API. We review the code, the preview theme and the write-up.
A short call about your product, stack and team. We sign your NDA, or ours, before you share code, designs or business details.
We share the profile of the developer we recommend and you interview them. A match usually takes about a week, depending on availability.
The contract assigns all code and work product to you once invoices are paid, and sets out rates, hours, notice and confidentiality.
You invite the developer to your GitHub or GitLab, Jira or Linear, and Slack or Teams. You control access and can revoke it at any time.
A written update at the end of every working day, a weekly summary with hours, what shipped and what is blocked, and a demo when you want one.
Our team is in India (IST, UTC+5:30). These are the overlap windows we plan around; the exact hours are agreed in the contract.
Our normal day (9:00–18:00 IST) covers roughly 9:00 am to 12:30 pm in London in winter and 9:00 am to 1:30 pm in summer. A developer working 11:00–20:00 IST can cover until about 2:30 pm GMT.
On a shifted schedule the developer is online for about 9:00 am to noon Eastern (New York, Toronto), enough for stand-up, reviews and questions. Work carries on overnight and is ready in your morning.
For California or Vancouver we agree a fixed early window, typically 7:00–9:00 am Pacific, plus written hand-offs at the end of your day. We are open that overlap is shorter here.
India is 4.5 to 5.5 hours behind Sydney and Melbourne, so our normal day overlaps your afternoon, roughly 1:30–5:30 pm AEST. Perth overlaps from about 11:30 am onwards.
Before committing to a month, you can start with a one-week paid pilot. The developer works on a real ticket from your backlog, in your repository and tools, with the same daily updates as a normal engagement. At the end you decide whether to continue, change developer or stop. The pilot is billed at the hourly rate for the hours worked, and the code is yours.
If the developer is not the right fit, tell us and we will replace the developer at no extra charge. The new developer is briefed from the shared notes and tickets, and we overlap the hand-over where we can so you do not lose momentum.
Indicatively, a full-time dedicated Shopify developer from RED SAG costs about $1,700–3,500 a month depending on seniority, and hourly work is about $15–30 an hour. The rates table shows the ranges in GBP, AUD, CAD and INR too. Fixed-price theme or app work is quoted per scope before anything starts.
Yes. We sign your NDA, work through your Shopify Partner account or collaborator access, and communicate only through your tools. We do not contact your clients unless you ask us to, and we keep our name out of theme code and handover notes. See our white-label development page for how agencies usually work with us.
Yes. Plus stores bring extra options such as checkout UI extensions, Functions for more customisation, B2B features and expansion stores. A Shopify Plus developer has to know where those options end, so ours work within whichever plan you have and tell you plainly if a request needs Plus, rather than building a fragile workaround.
Only if a theme genuinely holds you back, for example with complex content, a very custom front end or strict performance needs. Headless adds hosting, development and maintenance cost. For most stores a well-built Online Store 2.0 theme is cheaper to run, and we will tell you if that is the better choice.
Usually within a week, depending on availability and whether your work is mainly theme, app or checkout development. If you have a launch or sale date, share it on the first call so we can plan access, the pilot and any theme freeze around it.
Tell us what is not working. We will replace the developer at no extra charge and hand over through the Git history, tickets and store notes, so the new developer does not start from zero. The one-week paid pilot helps you judge fit before a monthly commitment.
Yes. Theme work is done in a development or duplicate theme with a preview link for you to check on desktop and mobile. App changes are tested on a development store first. Nothing is published to the live theme until you approve it.
It depends on the change. Layout, sections, product pages and speed work are theme jobs in Liquid. Anything that stores its own data, talks to another system or runs inside the Shopify admin is app work with the GraphQL Admin API. Tell us the problem rather than the job title, and we will assign someone strong on the side your backlog needs.
